Todays ragdoll cat was developed from the unlikely combination of three feral cats in Riverside, California.
The purebred ragdoll cat owes its existence to a woman named Anne Baker and a female cat called Josephine.
Josephine was a feral cat who had become somewhat tame while being nursed back to health after a car accident, it was Anne Baker who seen special qualities in Josephines next litters and kept a female kitten who was a solid black and named it Buckwheat . Anne's neighbour also kept one of Josephine's kittens who was a pointed male with white mittens who was named Daddy Warbucks. Anne obtained a daughter of Josephine and Daddy Warbucks who was called Fugianna and was the first bicolour ragdoll.
Anne then used her neighbours cat Daddy Warbucks as a stud to theses cats to establish the Ragdoll breed.
Ragdolls have become the most fastest growing and most loveable breed of cat ever developed. Owners admit they are captivated by their sweet nature, large size, beautiful coat and big blue eyes.
Ragdolls are strictly indoor cats and many owners compare them to dogs as they can learn to play fetch with their favourite toy. Ragdolls crave company and will want to be with you all the time, youll be met at the door when you get home and follow you around the house wherever you go.
Ragdolls are the perfect lap cat. They need their owners attention and lots of love and if not sitting on your lap it will be lying nearby you.
Ragdolls are indoor cats and should not be left outside unsupervised because they are so docile they will not defend themselves from other animals.
